Species of the cannabis genus have an incredible array of uses. Sadly, many people are only aware of its drug form, marijuana. Despite this, marijuana is beginning to gain acknowledgement as being a legitimate form of medication for a number of diseases that modern medicine has struggled to treat. At current, 15 states and D.C. have recognized the medicinal properties of marijuana in their state legislation. The federal government however continues to classify marijuana and its derivatives as a Schedule I drug. Quoted from the DEA.gov website: "Schedule I drugs are classified as having a high potential for abuse, no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States, and a lack of accepted safety for use of the drug or other substance under medical supervision."

When the legislation of our state and federal governments begins to directly contradict itself, it is a sure sign that people are not being adequately educated on the topic. Right now, otherwise law abiding citizens are being arrested for marijuana possession while adhering to their states medical marijuana laws. Unfortunately, the DEA has chosen not to honor the laws of state governments. If you are a medical marijuana user, it is also your responsibility to educate yourself on this matter. The DEA has every right to prosecute you under federal law because federal law inherently overrides state law. That being said, we hope that this website and resource may empower individuals to make educated decisions that will both protect them from poorly made laws and allow them to either directly or indirectly work to change said laws.
